The Beautiful Side of Evil Review

The Beautiful Side of Evil

Johanna Michaelson's book, "The Beautiful Side of Evil," is one of only three books that I would consider a "classic" book regarding "Angels" and "Out of Body Experiences." ("Murdered Heiress, Living Witness" by Dr. Petti Wagner, and "Angels on Assignment" by Roland Buck, of the famous Buck knife family, are the other two.)
About the first 90% of Michaelson's book is one fast-paced experience after another -often involving demons, typical college life experiences, and out-of-body experiences, and it is good reading, let me assure you!
One such experience that particularly stands out in my mind is the time Johanna had a "dream" that she was standing outside her friend's 2nd-floor dormitory window. When she later told her friend of the dream, the friend related how she saw Johanna standing outside the window at that time and was about to invite her in when she realized -in horror -that she was looking out a window that was two stories up!
Another intriguing college experience was when a friend offered her mescaline to induce an out of body experience, and she left her body and saw her body below her somehow walking down the street -on its own -that late night!
However, right near the end, Johanna shares some Biblical truths that sets the record straight on whether she is Biblically solid or not.
Johanna Michaelson's book here is forwarded by Hal Lindsay (famous for his end-time book, "The Late, Great Planet Earth"). Before anyone gets turned off by any negative name recognition by Hal Lindsay, let me point out that Michaelson's book, like Wagner's and Buck's, has solid Biblical support.
Michaelson, who was visited by demons, posing as holy angels, gives five Biblical methods to "try the spirits" to see an angel (or even a so-called human "prophet") really is from God:
** 1. Does the angel's *specific* testimony acknowledge Jesus as Lord? (If you don't know, then ASK! ~ Ask the "angel" if unsure. A Holy angel will never deny Jesus!)
** 2. If it's a person, is the general testimony of their life one of righteousness? (A true prophet does not lead a sinful lifestyle.)
** 3. Did the specific prophecy come to pass? (The "gold test of a true prophet" vs. a "false prophet," so to speak.)
** 4. Is the general prophecy a method permitted by God, that is, did the "prophet" use a forbidden witchcraft method to call up the spirit, or did it appear in one of the permitted ways, such as a vision or an angelic visitation? (If you ask God for an answer via, say, calling up the dead or the Ouija board, any answer you get may be -and probably will be -from a demon, not God or His Holy angels.)
** 5. Is there the testimony of the Holy Spirit, a gut feeling, so to speak?
She says you can't always trust your feelings, as she herself was fooled, so you must use _all five_ Biblical methods to be sure.
Although I have read the Bible from cover-to-cover, Michaelson distilled these methods so well that I was impressed -and took careful notes! (She backs up her claims with scripture, in case you are curious about her book.) In fact, once I was looking online for these five methods, since I had since sold my book -and could not exactly recall, so I am writing this review as much for my benefit as for yours.
Now, as far as spooky experiences, Michaelson shares how she worked with a psychic healer, who apparently used demonic powers to heal. Before any of my Christian friends think that demons can't heal, let me refer you to these scriptures (that I've found) to verify Johanna's claims here: Exodus 7:11-12 (Pharaoh of Egypt has evil magicians do real magic) 1st Samuel 28:3a,11-12 (God allows witch to call up and speak with the dead) Matthew 7:21-23 (Even the evil people who did miracles and healed people don't all make it to heaven) 2nd Corinthians 11:13-15 (Fallen Angels and even Satan doing miracles) Revelation 13:12-14 (Both the 1st and 2nd beast do miracles, signs, and wonders.) These guys are all evil, folks! But they can still do "evil" miracles -like the demons that visited Johanna.
I do admit that I have been reluctant to even write an Amazon books review on this book, because I did not feel I could do justice to this great book, but I feel an obligation to my fellows. (That's you!)
Only a few books I have ever read stand equal to her book here:
Rev. Buck, who claims he was visited by angels of God, makes two predictions that come true: Right before he died in 1979, Buck predicted the pope just elected would be very influential, and this has come true; He also rightly predicted concerning the message he himself was given about the angels being made worldwide.
Also, Dr. Wagner, who claims to have been visited by God while illegally kept in a mental facility, tells of the three baptisms (of salvation, of water, and of the Holy Spirit, by Jesus Himself, as the Baptizer). Wagner also tells of when God asked her to forgive a man who had just died and was on his way to Hell. She asked God what good that would do him, where he was going. God told her that it was necessary for her to prevent bitterness from taking root in her heart. That hearkens to Mark 11:25, which says to simply forgive, when praying, not merely as you want to be forgiven, but simply forgive -probably one of the hardest scriptures to follow, but one that brings healing and peace.
Well, I can't do justice to Johanna Michaelson's book here, but I do highly recommend it.
Also, let me remind you that you may look at all my reviews for details on these other books. (Gordon Wayne Watts; Lakeland, Florida, USA)

This is by far the best book I have ever read. It has been out of print for quite sometime and now I see that it is back. This is the common sense approach to how to live our lives. It will give you a better understand and provide growth of your sprituality. I highly recommend this to the whole world!

Science has defined a variety of natural laws that explain the physical world and how it changes. One such law states that for every action there is a reaction, and that for every motion there is corresponding counter-motion. Whether it s visible to the human eye or not, one thing is certain movement and change will occur as a result. Having studied these principles, author Raymond Holliwell not only understood the universal physical applications, he also understood the spiritual and mental applications as well. By using this law on a spiritual and mental level, Holliwell found that a specific thought could create a desired reaction in his personal and professional life through continual and dedicated practice. As he came to realize the expanded potential of this powerful law, he eventually recognized the ultimate source of the dramatic results God.There are countless laws that impact on our daily lives and actions. But there are other laws just waiting to be discovered and put to work from within laws that anyone can use to live a limitless and prosperous life. After many printings, the lessons in WORKING WITH THE LAW are still being taught in numerous workshops around the country and continue to provide the reader with a new opportunity to take action and re-think their strategy for success by simply working with the law.FROM THE INTRODUCTION: If life can move along effortlessly and orderly some of the time, why does it not do so always? When we ponder this question, often in the midst of discouragement and difficulty, we feel that something is eluding us. What is that something? According to the author of Working with the Law, Dr. Raymond Holliwell, that something is God or as he prefers to name it, Law. He states in his preface: "I shall call God working in our lives Law. Interpreting the Law in several ways should bring it more clearly into our way of thinking. Then as we strive to work with the Law we are living closer to God, and such living brings a better understanding."

Nothing in This Book Is True, But It's Exactly How Things Are, 15th Anniversary Edition Review

Nothing in This Book Is True, But It's Exactly How Things Are, 15th Anniversary Edition
Average Reviews:

I picked up an earlier edition of "Nothing in this Book is True, But It's Exactly How Things Are" less than a year ago at a friend's book sale. A family member while visiting, picked it up and couldn't stop reading it til he had finished the book the next day! I then began reading it, and a couple days later I realized I had passed a turning point. Everything finally made sense.

Bob Frissell's story weaves in so many things: sacred geometry, UFOs, REAL ancient history, dimensional shifts, the 2012 prophecy and our role in it, the Merkaba meditation and Flower of Life, Rebirthing, Conscious Breathing. Yet he tells this story in such a way that it is uncomplicated and obvious, with plenty of facts, resources and illustrations to support the information. The new revised and expanded edition adds updated information as well as the Merkaba breath meditation.
As Bob Frissell puts it "There are no accidents", and since reading this book a lot has opened up for me. I continue to follow the thread of information, but this book is the sort of "primer" that puts everything together seamlessly, packed with information. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in sacred geometry, what's really going on with the 2012 prophecies, multi-dimensions and where we are (and were!).

Nothing in This Book Is True, But It's Exactly How Things Are is an account of humankind's function within the grand celestial battle between internal and external knowledge. Author Bob Frissell gives a compelling account of our planetary ascent into higher consciousness, presenting a big-screen view of the Earth through the experience of the Ascended Masters, Thoth, Babaji, and Drunvalo Melchizedek.Pulling in all manner of conspiracy theories from the Secret Government to the Philadelphia Experiment, Frissell proposes both a core transdimensional shift based on the Mayan calendar and a personal Rapture mediated through the connected, affirmed breaths of rebirthing that his teacher Melchizedek used to travel from the other side of the universe to here—breathing your own spacecraft (merkaba) out of and around your aura in order to travel through the astral realms. The 15th anniversary edition of this cult classic is revised and expanded with new illustrations and 50 pages of important new information on the Lucifer Rebellion, the solar storm, and the final three breaths of the merkaba meditation.

Ken Carey's has transcribed a book from the celestial realm that contains pearls of wisdom that I found unparalled in 30 yrs of metaphysical reading and searching. I am reading it for the third time; right around Christmas each year. As the New Millenium dawns, this wondrous message contained within becomes more clear and explicit as time unfolds... We are at a crossroads of mankinds future in the next 12 yrs. Our consciousness will spell the story of what happens to this earth and to all of us upon it. If you want to know what road to place your feet upon, this is the best book I have read to show you that the true answers lie within... Ken Carey is a virtual unknown prophet in our time... I dont understand why this book isnt on the best seller list with "Conversations With God".... Read this book. It will change your life.

Twelve by Twelve: A One-Room Cabin Off the Grid and Beyond the American Dream Review

Twelve by Twelve: A One-Room Cabin Off the Grid and Beyond the American Dream
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

William Powers' memoir "Twelve by Twelve: A One-room Cabin Off the American Grid and Beyond the American Dream" is an intimate account of his journey to find answers to the questions: "Why would a successful physician choose to live in a twelve-foot-by-twelve-foot cabin without running water or electricity in rural North Carolina?"and "How can we learn to live in harmony with each other and nature?"
Dr. Jackie Benton (not her real name), a mother, peace activist and "wisdomkeeper" who mostly lives off the produce from her permaculture farm, struck Powers as someone who had achieved self-mastery in confusing times. To avoid war taxes (fifty cents out of every dollar goes to the Pentagon) she accepts only eleven thousand dollars instead of the three hundred thousand she could make as a senior physician.
Powers needing a way out of despair from a separation from his young daughter and a decade of challenging international aid work accepted Jackie's offer to stay in her cabin next to No Name Creek for a season while she traveled.
He said Jackie's 12 X 12 and her unique approach to living in todays world seemed full of clues toward living lightly and artfully. He hoped it would help him learn to think, feel and live another way.
Having worked in Africa and South America Powers asked Jackie how we can stop the northern economies pillage of the Global South's forests, mines and oceans. He later came to synthesize Jackie's vision as "see, be, do." Before acting on a problem we must "BE." Take time in solitude to reflect, meditate or pray. Only when we SEE with clarity can we act ("DO") fearlessly. Powers says this blending of inner peace with loving action is sometimes called God, intuition, the "still small voice," grace or presence. He knew Jackie was right, "The world's problems cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness at which they were created."
At first it was difficult for Powers to live without a shower and toilet in the 12 X 12. He said Jackie did not leave an "Idiot's Guide." However, as the weeks passed in the 12 X 12 he found a deeper appreciation for the preciousness of water and the natural world. He said, "Instead of listening with one ear, as I sometimes do when faced with deadlines, with multitasking, I used both ears. Real listening is prayer."
Jackie's instructions were to "simply sit" and "to not do, be." Her stack of hand written cards with sayings or questions like "The Strenuous Contours of Enough, Trade Knowledge for Bewilderment" and "Simplify"
brought him into mindfulness and deepened his daily life. She said earlier, "The joy of simplifying one's material life is you don't have to work long hours to buy and maintain a bunch of stuff."
Concerning anger Jackie advised, "When you become so enmeshed with the fullness of nature, of Life, that your ego dissolves, emotions like resentment, anger, and fear have no place to lodge...you still feel these emotions but more like a dull thud against the mind...When you see worthiness, praise it. And when you see unworthiness, trace it. Don't judge. Trace anything you don't like in someone else back to their unique history; then trace it back to yourself because anything you dislike in others is somewhere in you."
Jackie's "wildcrafter" life and her eclectic neighbors of organic farmers, biofuel brewers and eco-developers helped Powers synthesize the wisdom of indigenous people. Their idea is not to live better but to live well: friends, family, healthy body, fresh air and water, enough food and peace. To ask what is enough? To see how genuine well-being is not linked to material possessions and productivity.
Powers' chapter on "Noise and War" reminds us that humans have slaughtered one hundred million of our species in twentieth-century wars. Powers fears America with its massive military industrial complex with 721 official military bases in foreign countries, and over one thousand unofficially, has chosen empire over democracy.
Powers and Jackie's story show how we can reshape ourselves in the face of globalization. We can decide what get globalized: consumption or compassion, selfishness or solidarity, war or peace.
Their penetrating insights offer clues for a smaller footprint, the joy of ordinariness and a more meaningful life.

The Twelfth Insight: The Hour of Decision Review

The Twelfth Insight: The Hour of Decision
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've read (and own) all of James Redfield's books. I'll review the book momentarily, but let me give a little background on where my review is coming from. I'm interested in the human situation, thinking, and consciousness. I enjoy philosophy (Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Wittgenstein, J. Krishnamurti, etc.) and I'm really into the writings/teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, and Buddhist/Taoist philosophy in general. I also enjoy the Walking Dead and Chew comic books, Seinfeld, and Arrested Development on TV. These interests, I believe, give you a taste of my tastes. I'm not a New Age person, per se.
I tried reading Louise Hay's stuff and other Hay House publications (the Abraham series, etc.) and I've seen the Secret and read things written by some of the presenters thereon, and plenty of other things of that sort. While I "get them", they all just seem far too "me" oriented. From what they seem to be saying--in my quite possibly erroneous interpretation--is that the whole point of life is to manifest cars and boats and live forever. And an Abraham cruise-ship?! Seems weird to me (if you've got the money to take a cruise, might you consider manifesting food for the poor, or clean water for third world nations?)And while I understand that those sorts of things click with some people--everyone is at a different point in their journey--they don't click with me. I can not get around the irony found in a text or a video that tells me to transcend my ego, yet at the same time tells me that my ego might like me to have more money and a bigger house. And take a cruise.
Back to James Redfield. He's different. He doesn't appear to be in it for the money. For goodness sake, he offers a bimonthly (I think?) webcast/teleconference with anyone who wants to join, FOR FREE! Anyhow, I started with his stuff by first seeing the Celestine Prophecy Movie a few years ago. Then I promptly read all of the books, and I've just finished reading The Twelfth Insight. I loved it.
What I love and appreciate about Redfield's philosophy is that it isn't "me" focused. Whether you start with the first book (which you probably ought to) or you start with this latest, you'll be shown how to exist in the world with more compassion towards others.
The Twelfth Insight is very similar in structure to the other books in the series: The (unnamed)hero catches wind of a document and travels the world looking for more pieces of it, all the while learning more and more about it. People who read Redfield probably aren't looking for an adventure so much as they're looking for philosophy, and The Twelfth Insight provides a great one.
I really, truly believe that if a person were to actually read these books--with an open-mind--and investigate for themselves the truths that are offered inside (like the Buddha would recommend!), s/he would come to a striking revelation that we are, in fact, all One. The Twelfth Insight, essentially, is an action/adventure detailing how an open-minded person can get to that feeling of Oneness, with the hope to sustain it.And to the Redfield faithful, if you're reading this: Yes, it's worth it. And you'll wish you could read it for the first time all over again, just like the other books in the series.
Peace to you. Enjoy!
=)

On December 21, 2012, the Mayan calendar will end. Many see it as an apocalyptic sign. But is it?In The Twelfth Insight, the long-awaited fourth book in the beloved Celestine Series, we again follow our Hero and his close friend Wil. They have just received a portion of another ancient and mysterious manuscript that describes a secret approach to spirituality that is silently arriving in the second decade of the 21st Century. But the manuscript is only available in fragments. To understand its full meaning for mankind, our Hero and Wil begin an urgent search to find the message in its entirety. As they embrace the power of Synchronicity and begin their search, they are confronted by powerful political forces and religious extremists that stand in the way of these spiritual revelations. Utilizing what he calls the "parable effect," and based on his own sources, James Redfield explores the similarities and differences that exist among the world religions, revealing the essential messages contained within them that can energize our experience of spirituality-- and produce a new wave of integrity and reform that can transform our lives and our world.
